Call for Amendments to Local 1759 Bylaws

To All Members of Capital Air Lodge 1759

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

During the month of May and prior to June 1, the recording secretary will accept proposals to amend, change, add or delete Local 1759 Bylaws.

All proposals must be in writing, signed by not less than five (5) members in good standing.

Each proposal shall be submitted on a separate sheet of standard size paper.

The first reading of the proposed changes is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2007at the 4:00 p.m. business meeting of Local 1759.

The second reading of the proposed changes, followed by the Bylaw Committee’s recommendations is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, 2007 at the 12:00 p.m. business meeting.

An all-day, walk-in referendum on the proposed changes is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2007 at Local 1759. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until the close of the 4:00 p.m. business meeting.

Advance notice of firm dates for the 1st and 2nd readings, along with notice of referendum, will be posted on all IAM bulletin boards and the Local 1759 web site at www.iam1759.org as soon as the information becomes available.

In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and District Lodge 141 Bylaws, the REGULAR CALL for nominations is herby issued for the following Local Lodge Delegates:

Call for nominations to The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers 37th Grand Lodge Convention, September 7-13, 2008, in Orlando, Florida.

Call for nominations to The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District Lodge 141 Convention, October 21-23, 2008 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Nominations will be conducted on May 6, 2008, at the 4:00 pm meeting, at 1037 Sterling Road, Suite #103, Herndon, VA.

Official Notice of Local Lodge 1759 Election for Delegates to the Grand Lodge and District Lodge 141 Conventions and District 141 Officers

Local Lodge 1759 will be conducting an election for District Lodge 141, 142 and 143 Officers, Grand Lodge Convention Delegates and District Lodge 141 Convention Delegates. The vote will be held on June 3, 2008, at the hall, 1037 Sterling Road, Suite 104, Herndon VA, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Absentee ballots will be accepted for this election.

Members may vote by absentee ballot if they are:

1. Members who reside in outlying districts more than 25 miles from the designated balloting place.
2. Members who are either confined because of verified illness or on leave qualifying under U.S. and/or Canadian family leave laws.
3. Members who are on vacation.
4. Members who are on official IAM business approved by the local, district, or Grand Lodge.
5. Members who are on an employer travel assignments.
6. Members who are on reserve military leave.

Absentee ballot requests must be either hand delivered by the member or individually mailed to the Recording Secretary, 1037 sterling Road, Suite 104, Herndon VA, 20170. Mailed ballot requests must be postmarked no later than May 3, 2008.
